Why I Do What I Do?
For as long as I know, I have always been drawn to making things and designing things. My favorite thing to do would be making crafts and turning boring school assignments into creative projects. As time went on, I began to realize that I could never see myself growing up and doing anything other than something art-related. I currently take three art classes at school because there's nothing more I want to do than just create all day. I never took a formal, traditional art class until my sophomore year in high school. Because of this, a lot of my work draws from the experience I gained from crafting when I was younger and teaching myself how to draw and paint. I always have trouble seeing the pieces I make as "art" because it doesn't fit the traditional, classic look and style many people think of art should be. I know my work is stylized, colorful, and crafty, but that's the point. I strive to break the boundaries that define what are crafts and what is Fine Art. I want to prove that art doesn't just take place on a canvas with oil paint. Art is a way to communicate and share your vision with others in a more creative way. If we stifle one's voice by dictating what is and what isn't art, we can never be open to the new perspectives of the future.
